About Us

Creative Arts Hawaii – Our Story

For more than 50 years, Creative Arts Hawaii has been helping Hawai‘i tell its story through custom apparel and design. What began in 1972 as a small print shop in Hilo has grown—through humble beginnings and hard work—into one of Hawai‘i’s leading providers of fully customized apparel and accessories, serving customers across the Big Island and throughout the state. Founded by Ernest Kurohara, who envisioned a full-service graphic design studio and the Big Island’s first commercial screen-printing facility, Creative Arts Hawaii began by supplying his retail stores with locally inspired designs. Since its establishment, the company has remained locally owned and operated, today led by Ernest’s son, Randy Kurohara, who carries forward his father’s vision of creativity, humility, and community commitment. As we have grown, we have stayed true to our values—caring for and giving back to the community that has supported us for generations, and being a responsible employer who values the well-being and growth of our team.
